The schedule for my internship is settled and although it is only 1 week – 5 days – the program is including so many different things that it could be enough content for a whole month. Besides the language barrier, the culture shock and the differences in the publishing industry I am checking out 4 different parts of the publishing sector so that should keep me busy for a long time even after the internship is finished.Well, the travelling during that week is gonna be fun as I am already giving out my complete money for the subway with about 800 Yen a day and travelling to Yokohama and back again… Whatever, unless I have money left over for some food it is okay.

Super interessantes Praktikum. Würde mich freuen wenn du mal deine Eindrücke zu japanischen Verlagen festhalten und hier posten könntest. Ich weiss zum Beispiel dass eBooks in Japan wegen der mangelnden Unterstützung der Verlage so gut wie keinen Marktanteil haben. Vor kurzem ist die Sharp Galapagos Plattform mit dedizierten eBook Readern und Handies gestartet.
Das klang ursprünglich sehr interessant aber als ich Anfang des Jahres, bei der Vorstellung der Geräte, mit einem Sharp Vertreter gesprochen habe, stellte sich heraus, dass man Bücher nur _IN_ Japan kaufen kann, dass heisst wenn ich mich ausserhalb Japans aufhalte kann ich nicht mal eBook kaufen 😦
Schreib einfach mal was zu deinen Eindrücken (wenn du danach noch lebst) 😉
Irgendwie dachte ich immer, dass eBooks in Japan besonders beliebt sind – vielleicht wegen der generell technikaffinen Einstellung dort. Aber da habe ich mich wohl getäuscht?
So wie ich das mit mitbekommen habe, lesen die Japaner recht viel auf dem Handy und dafür gibt es auch extra Fortsetzungsromane die darauf ausgelegt sind auf einem kleinen Display gelesen zu werden. Ich kenne aber keinen Japaner der sich extra einen eBook-Reader kaufen würde um damit unterwegs „richtige“ Romane zu lesen.
@ruedigerhajo: ja, das soll ja ein richtiger Handyroman-Hype sein. Aber mann kann ja auch eBooks auf Handys lesen, ohne dass man sich einen richtigen eReader zulegt. Die angesprochene Plattform ist, so wie ich das verstanden habe, ja auch darauf ausgelegt, dass man eBooks auf Smartphones lesen kann…
